SilverCity Richmond Hill Cinemas
A popular option for suburban audiences in the Richmond Hill area, this 14-screen Silvercity originally opened in May 1998 with 10 large auditoriums with wall-to-wall screens. The following year, an extra four cinemas were built on the theatre’s west wing. Beyond the regular fast food choices, there is a Feta & Olives Meditterean Grill located inside, although there are also many bar and grill options in the same plaza. The Silvercity Richmond Hill was also one of the only theatres in Canada to show a live, free-of-charge HD broadcast of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremonies on all of its screens—and given the multiculturalism of the nearby suburbs, it was an appropriate theatre. The Silvercity recently installed an UltraAVX auditorium in February 2011.
