Edward Ernest Reinhold Junior was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Two weeks after his birth his father, a lawyer with an obvious sense of humor, started calling his newborn son "Judge." The name stuck. Reinhold studied at Mary Washington College and then at the North Carolina School of the Arts. His first experiences as an actor were in theater and he performed with various regional companies, including de Burt Reynolds' Dinner Theater company in Jupiter, Florida. He then started getting work in television by the end of the '70s and beginning of the '80s, including a stint on Magnum P.I..

You could say three films made Judge Reinhold well-known : Fast times at Ridgemont High (1982), Gremlins (1984) and most of all the character of Billy Rosewood in Beverly Hills Cop alongside Eddie Murphy and John Ashton. He played Rosewood two more times in Beverly Hills Cop 2 and 3. The mid-eighties was certainly his most proficient period. He even got a part in a Pat Benatar video, for the song Shadows of the night!

Reinhold has been married twice, first in 1986 to casting director Carrie Frazer, then he married Amy Miller in January 2000.
