ups & downs
Quaid-Ryan split
Hot on the heels of the story of Meg Ryan and Dennis Quaid
splitting up, and numerous sightings of perky Meg with Proof of
Life co-star Russell Crowe, comes news that Quaid has
filed for divorce.
From Sex to X?
Rumor has it that Chris Noth, who has delighted audiences as
Mr. Big on the HBO hit Sex and the City (and who was also a
former regular on Law & Order) may become Mr. X on The
X-Files.
Myers sued again
A second lawsuit has now been launched against Mike Myers for
backing out of the Sprockets movie, based on his Saturday
Night Live Dieter character. Ron Howard's Imagine
Entertainment is now seeking $30 million in damages. Another lawsuit
was previously launched by Universal for at least the $3.8 million
it claims was
already spent on pre-production on the movie.
Teen angst king back
Teen angst king John Hughes, who directed the '80s films Sixteen
Candles and Ferris Bueller's Day Off, has committed to
write, direct and produce an as yet untitled movie set in Chicago,
his favorite stomping ground. He is also in talks to redo his
brat-pack classic The Breakfast Club.
Gumbel Gaffe
The always-opinionated Bryant Gumbel was apparently heard
using the F-word to describe a guest just as a wayward camera zeroed
in on him. The comment "what a F-- idiot" wasn't aired,
but the guest, Robert Knight of the Family Research Council,
did later claim that Gumbel made a rude and inappropriate comment. Early
Show host Gumbel went on vacation following the show. |
