The Oscar-winning actress addressed a star-studded crowd at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel, revealing she had a frightening 48-hour wait following her first mammogram. Fortunately, Kidman got the all-clear. Cancer struck close to home for Kidman in the past. When she was a teenager, her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer, but beat the disease after undergoing chemotherapy.

  Pamela Anderson an author? The former Baywatch star has received an advance of $250,000 U.S. from publishers Simon & Schuster, to pen two romance novels, Above the Waist and Below the Belt. The Canadian actress is working with a ghost writer, but Charlie Sheen says the plots and characters are all her own.

  Charlie Sheen and his wife, Denise Richards (Scary Movie 3) are new parents. They’ve named their baby girl Sam. Sheen has a 19-year-old daughter, Cassandra from his relationship with high school sweetheart Paula Profitt.

  Aussie singer Kylie Minogue is in the lingerie business. Her fashion line includes sexy undies, featuring a picture of her pouting lips on each pair.

  Sir Elton John says despite rumors he'll marry his long-term Canadian boyfriend, David Furnish, the two aren't planning a wedding. Initial reports indicated The Rocket Man wanted to take the plunge as soon as gay marriage is legalized in Britain. The singer says, while he and Furnish support the concept, he won't be walking down the aisle anytime soon.

  Sylvester Stallone wants to become a daddy again at age 57. He and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, already have three daughters together, Sophia, 7, Sistine, 5 and Scarlet, 2. Now, the Rocky/Rambo star says they want a fourth addition to the brood. Stallone also has two sons from his first marriage.

  Word has it Christian Slater is developing a movie loosely based on his and Ben Affleck's experiences at a Canadian strip club last year. It's reportedly a thriller about con men, filmmakers, tabloid reporters and the phenomenon of the media frenzy.

  Minnie Driver (Ella Enchanted) is releasing her own album this year. She sings in her upcoming film, Phantom of the Opera, but admits to lip-synching some of the operatic material. Driver wants fans to know she can sing, but in a different style.

  It's super band! Beyoncé's band members came to the rescue of a 91-year-old man in Palm Beach, Florida. When they saw the man trying to fight off a knife-wielding thug who grabbed his wallet, the musicians pulled in front of the suspected carjacker as he tried to drive off in the victim's car. When the man got out and ran, Beyoncé's bandmates chased him on foot and held the suspect down until police arrived.

  Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) had a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican. Caviezel, who plays Jesus in the Mel Gibson box office smash, met briefly with Pope John Paul II, who then blessed the devoutly Catholic actor.

  Whitney Houston checked herself out of rehab after just five days. Her representative says she remains on a prescribed treatment programme.  Back in December 2002, the 40-year-old singer admitted to ABC's Diane Sawyer she had abused drugs in the past, but got through the rough time with the help of prayer. Meanwhile, Houston's husband, singer Bobby Brown, is serving a 60 day prison sentence for breaking his parole. Among his violations is a misdemeanor battery charge following an alleged violent altercation with his wife.

  Sopranos star Edie Falco and boyfriend, actor Stanley Tucci (Maid in Manhattan) called it quits after a year of dating. The two met when they starred on Broadway in Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, doing nude scenes together. Their torrid stage affair turned into the real thing. Word has it, Tucci has returned to his wife and three young children.

  Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger finally resolved their custody battle over 8-year-old daughter, Ireland. A judge ruled in favor of Baldwin, granting him equal share of parenting with his ex-wife.

  Brad Pitt and George Clooney were refused entry to their luxury Italian hotel because the doorman thought they were vagrants. InBrad Pitt Rome shooting Ocean’s Twelve, the two got caught in a rain storm  while out jogging and appeared bedraggled at the hotel entrance. When informed of their identity, the doorman apologized profusely and allowed the two superstars inside.
